Patchworld
Built at Gemini 4 Argon SF Hackathon · Oct 25, 2026 · San Francisco, CA
A GTA-style open world built on the real map of San Francisco, where everyone you meet is a real person at the hackathon. Walk, drive, jetpack or ride a rooftop elevator through a cartoon SF built from real street data. Walk up to another player and swap cards to see their name, what they’re building and what they’re looking for, with a one-click link to their LinkedIn. Gemini 4 Argon runs the city’s social life: AI citizens (a burned-out staff engineer feeding pigeons, a delivery robot with feelings, a cable car gripman) talk in character about real nearby places using Google Maps grounding, and hand out quests. A Game Master agent, built on Gemini Managed Agents, reads everyone’s profile, works out who should meet, and sends both people on a GPS-guided quest to the same street corner. It’s a game where the side quest is your next co-founder. Built with: Gemini 4 Argon (Maps grounding and Managed Agents), Google Maps Platform (live minimap and Routes API directions), OpenStreetMap, three.js, Rapier physics, Socket.IO multiplayer, SomaFM radio, and Cloud Run.
