SkyStudio: AI-Powered Autonomous Drone Volumetric Sports Capture Traditional sports broadcasting is constrained by fixed cameras and static viewpoints. SkyStudio breaks this by deploying 12 autonomous drones that coordinate in real time around the field, capturing synchronized multi-view footage for neural radiance field (NeRF) reconstruction. Directors can generate shots from any angle—including physically impossible ones—and design novel camera paths in post-production using AI. The system includes a formation-control algorithm with collision avoidance for optimal volumetric coverage, a 2×2 multi-view command center with live drone feeds, and an interactive AI reconstruction viewer that integrates with world models like Genie 3, enabling users to explore frozen moments from any position. Demonstrated at Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium, SkyStudio transforms sports broadcasting from static coverage into fully dynamic, AI-driven storytelling.
