AutoFab

A chip is a lot of tiny switches wired together. One wire on the wrong pin and it gives wrong answers, and you can’t see it. AutoFab is a chip factory where Nemotron agents do that work: one plans the chip from a plain-English order like “a door lock that opens for 3, 5 and 8”, designers build the blocks, a wirer connects them, and a piece of code tests every single input. The AI never checks its own work. Then we left it alone. It ran eight shifts on fresh orders. Every failure became a lesson it wrote for itself. Every working block went on a shelf to reuse. Every change it proposed to its own rules had to beat a fresh validation batch, and it threw out all eight that didn’t. We changed nothing in between. Same 40-chip exam at the start and the end, orders it never practiced on, same model, same prompts: version 1 got 5 right, version 8 got 16. Gates per chip fell from 1.74× the best known to 1.29×, cost per chip from $0.007 to $0.005. Everything on the dashboard is read from one run file, and every rejected change is on screen too. You can type your own order and watch two versions build it live, flip the switches, and see which lesson the newer version had that the older one was missing.
