Rest, As Discovered begins like a serious scientific inquiry: objects don't fall the way we expect, sunlight follows patterns no one has explained, and a researcher goes looking for the reason why. What he finds isn't first contact, isn't a message, and isn't remotely what anyone was trained to expect: it's something that was already here, long before the investigation started, unbothered and entirely uninterested in being discovered at all.
