Wayfinder is a web application that turns dense how-to documentation into guided, step-by-step tours. Instead of asking someone to read an entire article or SOP, it lets them state a goal, provide a source—a URL or an uploaded file—and receive a distilled path written in plain language, one action at a time. The product exists because documentation is usually written for completeness, not for a person who needs a single outcome right now; Wayfinder removes that reading burden and surfaces only the sequence that matters.

It is built for teams that maintain runbooks, onboarding guides, and help content, and for the people who follow those guides: enablement and ops teams, SaaS companies, IT staff, and anyone who would rather do a task than hunt through paragraphs. In practice it can onboard an employee from an HR or IT doc, walk a customer through setup from a help article, embed a tour in a help center, or let an author edit steps on a storyboard, publish, and share a link, QR code, or iframe.

The intelligence behind tour creation is a multi-agent system coordinated by an orchestrator. A Reader agent scans the source for what relates to the user’s goal; a Distiller rewrites the material into clear steps rather than copying jargon; an Ordering agent sequences prerequisites, setup, and verification. Three operations agents then refine the result—Quality for clarity, Pedagogy for learning flow, and Source Fidelity to keep steps grounded in the original document. Winnie assists during editing by suggesting alternative step orders and flagging sequence issues, while the author always makes the final call. All of this runs on Google’s Gemini 3.5 Flash model,.

Production data lives in Cloudflare D1, a SQLite-compatible database accessed from the Next.js application on Render through Cloudflare’s HTTP API rather than through Workers. Render hosts stateless web compute on its free tier, while D1 provides durable storage for users, tours, settings, and progress without running Postgres on the app server. Locally, developers use Prisma with SQLite; in production the same data layer switches to D1, which keeps the architecture simple—a thin app server plus a managed data plane—and inexpensive to operate.

Voice is optional and powered by Gradium. When enabled, the server synthesizes speech from each step’s text and the tour player narrates the headline and body as the user moves through the guide, so hands-busy learners can listen instead of read.

The build began with design images and a written product specification that defined the screens and flows: landing, creation, storyboard editor, cinematic player, publish and share, and accounts. Implementation was done in Cursor web cloud agent using Composer 2.5, delivered in phases from a working tour engine through ingestion, AI extraction, publishing, authentication, persistence, and visual polish, then extended with the full agent pipeline, Winnie, and Gradium voice. The live app runs at wayfinder-9qzr.onrender.com, with sample guides hosted on the app’s own domain for testing.
