The original application was developed using Java 1.5 with Servlets and JSP, a legacy technology stack that was common at the time. While functionally sound, the experience around it began to show its age. The UI was not intuitive, troubleshooting required deep technical knowledge, and users had to dig manually through screens, logs, and data to understand what went wrong when issues occurred.
Users spent too much time reacting to issues instead of proactively managing them. Tracing errors, understanding exceptions, and debugging problems required effort that slowed operations and created friction across teams.
That’s when we made a strategic decision:
