Donna is an AI phone receptionist for small businesses that improves itself after every call. A customer calls a real number and talks to a voice agent built on Twilio and Gemini Live. It looks up orders and prices, creates and cancels orders, schedules pickups, and takes messages for a dry cleaner.

Voice agents repeat the same mistakes on every call, and fixing them means an engineer rewriting prompts by hand. Our answer is a second agent called the teacher. After each call it grades the transcript and tool use, then rewrites the receptionist’s harness. It adds or edits behavior rules, asks the owner a short question when a fact was missing instead of guessing, and proposes new tools the owner can enable.

Every change passes guardrails written in code. Issues must quote the transcript, changes must cite evidence, rules cannot introduce a number the business never stated, and locked rules cannot be touched. Each change is a new immutable config version, and the teacher rolls a version back automatically if calls score worse on it.
