Word of the Shogun is a single-file browser RTS set in feudal Japan, where your words shape the outcome of war.

You play as a feudal lord issuing orders to your general in natural Japanese. Powered by Gemini 2.5 Flash, it translates your input in real time, infers tactical intent, and maps it to CHARGE, DEFEND, or SPLIT — driving actual unit AI in combat.

Two native AI mechanics at its core:

Language as tactics — The meaning of what you say determines how your troops fight. No menus, no keyword triggers. Just language.

Relational memory — The general remembers every exchange. That memory and battle outcomes shape their emotions, culminating in a unique Bond Report — a personalized trait reflecting the bond you built.

Pre-AI systems could simulate combat, but could never let natural language drive unit behavior and character relationships simultaneously. Word of the Shogun is a proof-of-concept for native AI game design — one HTML file, no backend, no dependencies.
