# Repo Rescue — Hackathon Description

     ## What it does

Repo Rescue uses Gemini to find the unsung heroes in any GitHub repository. You
enter a repo, and an AI agent automatically scans for critical bugs, security
vulnerabilities, and incidents — then traces who fixed them, how fast they
responded, and how often they worked late nights to keep the project alive. The
result is a ranked leaderboard of "firefighters" with scored hero cards.

     ## The problem

Open source maintainers burn out. Contributors who quietly fix the hardest bugs —
patching CVEs at midnight, triaging crashes on weekends — rarely get recognized.
There's no easy way to see who actually keeps a project running. GitHub shows
commits and PRs, but not who consistently shows up when things are on fire.
