At 3 AM in a Hong Kong video rental store, a quiet clerk works alone behind the counter. A stranger in a black coat walks in and recognizes him. Twenty years ago, the clerk was a famous child star, the lead in a beloved 1993 film called Midnight Prince. He's spent his whole adult life hiding from that, denying it to anyone who asks.
But the stranger won't let it go. Relentless, fast-talking, he pushes the clerk all night, reminding him of what he had at nine years old, demanding to know why he walked away, insisting that talent like that never dies. Worn down, the clerk finally admits the truth: the fame came before he ever learned the craft, and the pressure crushed him. Then, for the first time in twenty years, he performs his famous line, and it's still just as good.
Reluctantly, he decides to try acting again. Only then does the stranger open his coat, revealing he was never just a stranger, but the most devoted fan the Midnight Prince ever had.
