On a quiet Saturday morning, the village of Mietinam is shattered by a sudden aerial attack, the first casualty in a war that will consume it. Miles away, a phone call from Washington sets a covert operation into motion. The next evening, as a military convoy moves through the village under gathering storm clouds, a radio transmission breaks apart mid-sentence. Acting on a single garbled word, "attack," Captain Elias Rourke gives the order to advance. Too late, an abort command crackles through, but the damage is already done. Rourke is left kneeling in the mud, undone by what he's set in motion. A court-martial follows: a formal, joyless reckoning that names the tragedy without undoing it. Months later, a cargo plane drifts low over a rebuilding Mietinam, dropping food aid to villagers who look up with quiet hope. The War We Made is a restrained anime war drama about the fog of war, how a single broken signal can outweigh every good intention, and how repair, however incomplete, still comes.
